REGULATIONS FOR LENT
Lent, excluding Sundays, is the penitential season of the year for the Church. Starts Ash Wednesday and ends with the Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday.
Lenten
Weekdays: There is no obligation to fast.
However, voluntary acts of self-denial are recommended.
Ash Wednesday and Good Friday:
The fast observes the Wednesday of Ash and Good Friday for all the faithful who have 18 years and those who are younger 60. Those who have the Obligation to fast can take a full meal during the day.
It is also allowed to take two smaller meals, if needed To maintain the strength, but you cannot take anything solid between foods.
Days of Abstinence (Every Friday of Lent):
Abstinence
Of meat is observed on Ash Wednesday and Good Friday and all on Fridays of Lent by all Catholics over the age of 14.
If for some reason the person has to eat meat on Friday of Lent, it must make another kind of sacrifice.
Throughout the year Catholics are obliged to confess sins Serious (mortal) or grave before receiving the Eucharist
REGULACIONES PARA LA CUARESMA
La Cuaresma, excluyendo los domingos, es la temporada penitencial del año para la Iglesia. Empieza el Miércoles de Ceniza y termina con la Misa de la Cena del Señor el Jueves Santo.
Días de Semana de la Cuaresma:
No hay obligación de hacer ayuno. Sin embargo, actos voluntarios de abnegación son recomendados.
Miércoles de Ceniza y Viernes Santo:
El ayuno se observa el miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo por todos los fieles que han cumplido los 18 años y los que son menores 60. Los que tienen la obligación de ayunar pueden tomar una comida completa durante el día. También se permite tomar dos comidas más pequeñas, si son necesarias para mantener la fuerza, pero no se puede tomar nada sólido entre comidas.
Días de Abstinencia (Todos los Viernes de Cuaresma):
La abstinencia de carne se observa el Miércoles de Ceniza y el Viernes Santo y todos los Viernes de Cuaresma por todos los católicos mayores de 14 años.
Si por alguna razón seria la persona tiene que comer carne en Viernes de Cuaresma, ésta deberá hacer otro tipo de sacrificio.
A lo largo del año los católicos estamos obligados a confesar pecados serios (mortal) o grave antes de recibir la Eucaristía.
